Indoor hockey

In the winter months (December, January and February) indoor hockey will be played (U9 and older)!

General

  • Indoor hockey is a fast-paced game that requires you to act quickly. It is also very good for developing technical hockey skills. Indoor hockey is played on a pitch with beams. You can use the beams during the game. You play with 5 players and 1 goalkeeper. Indoor hockey has different rules than field hockey (see "rules"). At AMVJ you have to register separately for indoor hockey. Participation is mandatory for selection and training teams (youth).

Material players

For indoor hockey the players need the following:

  • Indoor stick: lighter than field stick. Not mandatory, but highly recommended: it benefits development and enjoyment of the game. If you do use a field stick, it must not have any damage. Please note: a venue administrator may prohibit the use of a field stick.
  • Full finger gloves: required
  • Indoor shoes: required

Goalkeeper material

The keeper needs the following materials (which you get on loan from the club):

  • Hall covers for the legguards. You do this around the legguards to be able to dive/slide better. This is also better for the material.
  • Fabric straps for the kickers. Metal buckles are strictly prohibited, even if they are taped!

Trainings

We train in different halls in Amsterdam and Amstelveen. We will announce the training schedule in November. We try to take into account training days on the field, but that is not always possible.

Matches

You always play 2 matches a day in the hall. An indoor match lasts 2x20 minutes. You can play on Saturday or Sunday. The match schedule is made by the KNHB.

Game rules

  • Both teams provide 1 referee. Hall hockey has a number of different rules, for example you can only push, the ball is not allowed to go high (this is allowed on goal) and you are not allowed to play through a "block". Game rules for indoor hockey: click here

Indoor match tasks

  • Teams are assigned by the KNHB for "zaaldienst". You will then be on duty for 1 block (3 games). This is performed by at least 2 adults (not the referee or coach) Tasks:
  • Priority 1 is the timetable, always start on time (e.g. there is no shake-hands and hardly any time for play in).
  • Put down beams (1st team of the day) and/or clean up (last team of the day). Teams that are not on duty (but do play 1st or last match) help with this!
  • Keep score during match
  • Keep an eye on sporting behavior from the bench and the stands.
  • Check changing rooms for forgotten objects afterwards.
